What information we collect and why
When you contact us or request a quote
If you use the contact form or the Request a Quote form, or contact us by email, phone or WhatsApp, we collect the details you give us. Through our forms this can include your full name, company name, job title, postcode, email address, telephone number, the service you are interested in, your message, and any picture or file you choose to upload.
We use this information to reply to your enquiry, prepare a quote and, if you go ahead, carry out the work. Please do not include sensitive personal information in your message or uploaded files. Photos can contain hidden location details, so only upload images you are happy for us to see.
Lawful basis: taking steps at your request before entering a contract, and our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries about our services.
If you become a customer
We keep the details needed to carry out and invoice the work, such as your name, contact details, the property address and payment records. Lawful basis: performing our contract with you, and our legal obligation to keep accounting records.
When you visit our website
Like most websites, our server and security tools record technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit and the date and time. We use this to keep the website secure and working properly. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in running and protecting our website.
We also use Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to understand how visitors use the site (for example which pages are popular). These use cookies and similar technologies and collect information such as your approximate location, device and pages viewed. These analytics cookies are only set if you accept them in the cookie notice on our site. Lawful basis: your consent.
Cookies and third-party services
Our website uses the following third-party services, which may receive your IP address and technical information when your browser loads them:
- Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager, for visitor statistics (only with your consent, as above).
- Google Maps, which may be embedded on our contact page to show where we operate. Google may set cookies when the map loads.
- Google Fonts, which load the typefaces used on the site.
- Content delivery networks, such as cdnjs.cloudflare.com, which deliver icons and scripts used by the site.
- Wordfence, a security tool that records IP addresses and login attempts to protect the site from attacks.
These providers have their own privacy policies. Our site also links to our Facebook and LinkedIn pages and to WhatsApp. If you follow those links, the relevant provider’s own privacy policy applies.
For full details of the cookies we use, see our Cookie Policy. You can manage or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings and through the cookie notice on our site.
Who we share your information with
We do not sell your personal information. We only share it with the service providers we need to run our business and website, who act on our instructions:
- Google Cloud, which hosts our website on a virtual server that we manage;
- Google, which provides our email (Gmail), analytics and maps;
- our accountant or bookkeeper, where needed for our records;
- professional advisers, the police or regulators, if we are legally required to.
Some of these providers, such as Google, may process data outside the UK. Where this happens we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as UK adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses approved for UK use.
How long we keep your information
- Enquiries and quote requests that do not lead to work: one month, then deleted.
- Customer and accounting records: for as long as the law requires, which is typically six years.
- Analytics data: no longer than 14 months, in line with our Google Analytics settings.
- Website security logs: only for a limited period needed to protect the site.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your information, in certain circumstances;
- ask us to restrict how we use your information, in certain circumstances;
- object to us using your information based on our legitimate interests;
- ask for your information in a portable format, where this applies;
- withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent (for example for analytics cookies). This does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it.
To exercise any of these rights, email Sales@bwcmanchester.co.uk. We will normally reply within one month.
Making a complaint
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Our services and website are aimed at businesses and property owners. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
